Brave the Cold; See Red Bull Illume Through March 30

My wife and a couple friends ventured down to Piedmont Park last night to view the exhibit Red Bull Illume, 50 images that will take your breath away.  While the forecast for the next week is for cold nights that’s when you need to see this exhibit.  All the photos are displayed in big light boxes that best show the work in the dark.  It’s also fun to bump elbows in the dark with the enthusiastic crowds.

Here’s the story of the exhibit;

“Red Bull Illume, the world’s largest international photography competition dedicated to action and adventure sports, is coming to Piedmont Park in Atlanta this March 20-30. A total of 28,257 photos were submitted in 2013 by 6,417 photographers from 124 countries around the globe. The top 50 images, first unveiled in Hong Kong, are touring the world as part of a unique illuminated nighttime exhibition. This is its last US stop before heading to Spain.

Once the sun sets, locals and visitors alike are invited to stroll through Piedmont Park and take in the sights of 25 life-sized, illuminated light boxes. The images, which have been carefully selected and curated, showcase the most exciting and creative action sports photography on the planet. Throughout the 10-day free exhibition, attendees also will have opportunities to attend lectures from the award-winning photographers, meet Red Bull athletes and more. The exhibition is free to attend and is open to the public. Guests 21 and up can also enjoy libations while strolling through the exhibition.”
